Rally Sweden: Rovanpera’s first for the season

Kalle Rovanpera won the Swedish Rally and topped the Drivers' standings, followed by Thierry Neuville and Esapekka Lappi on the podium.

The young Finnish driver managed to lead significantly in the overall classification already from Saturday and, maintaining a steady pace, celebrated his first victory for 2022, despite some problems he encountered in the GR Yaris hybrid system.
Earlier, the retirement of Elfyn Evans-Scott Martin after hitting a snowbank that caused major damage to their Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, brought Thierry Neuville-Martijn Wydaeghe (Hyundai i20 N Rally1) and Esapekka Lappi-Janne Ferm (Toyota GR Yaris Rally1) to fight for second place. Finally, Hyundai's Belgian crew prevailed by only 8.6 ”, not allowing Toyota to celebrate its first 1-2 for the season.
Takamoto Katsuta-Aaron Johnston finished 4th, with the GR Yaris Rally1 of Toyota Gazoo Racing Next Generation. Gus Greensmith-Jonas Andersson finished 5th, as in Rallye Monte Carlo, with the only Ford Puma Rally1 that managed it to the finish.
The first six were formed by Oliver Solberg-Elliott Edmondson (Hyundai i20 N Rally1).
Andreas Mikkelsen-Torstein Eriksen (Skoda Fabia Rally evo) finished 7th for the second time in a row, winning the WRC 2.
Rally Sweden set the premiere of the Junior WRC, for drivers under the age of 30, which is being held for the first time this year, with a four-wheel drive Ford Fiesta Rally3.
After a three-day intense battle, the winners were the British Jon Armstrong-Brian Hoy, with a difference of only 2.7 " from the Finns Lauri Joona-Mikael Korhonen.
